Standardized Dress Code

STANDARDIZED DRESS CODE POLICY


Giano’s Dress Code is designed to be conducive to student learning and allow students to express themselves as individuals without being a distraction to others.

 

Pants, Shorts, Skirts, and Dresses

  • Must fit at waist, knee and cuff for a tailored look; no frayed edges
  • No ripped/torn pants
  • Cannot be worn below the waist (no sagging or exposed underwear)
  • Dresses, skirts, jumpers or shorts cannot be shorter than mid-thigh
  • Oversized shorts or pants are not allowed (width or length)
  • Leggings cannot replace pants 
  • Sweatpants, basketball shorts, or official PE shorts cannot be worn outside of PE class.  

 

Shirts

  • Sheer (see through) material must have full length solid shirt beneath covering all undergarments
  • Logos or words on shirts must be appropriate for school (no curse words or innuendos/references to violence, drugs, tobacco, or alcohol)
  • P.E. shirts may only be worn in Physical Education classes
  • No halters, tank tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines, tube tops, bare midriffs, or bare backs
  • No sports jerseys
  • No oversized shirts

 

Shoes and Socks

  • Closed toed shoes only (No sandals or slippers of any kind)
  • No backless or high heel shoes
  • No knee socks

 

Outerwear

  • No oversized sweatshirts or jackets

 

Miscellaneous or Accessories

  • Hats, caps, beanies, or hoodies can be worn outdoors only
  • Hats, caps, beanies must be free of any logos
  • Jewelry that is safe for school activities only (no sharp edges, spiked plugs, or oversized earrings)
  • No belt buckles with initials or inappropriate items
  • Headphones cannot be worn or be visible at anytime

 

For the purpose of student safety and maintaining an appropriate instructional program which focuses on student learning, Rowland Unified School District requires that all students dress with appropriate taste.  Please refer to RUSD Student Dress Code for additional details and guidance.  Dress code checks will take place throughout the school year.

 

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES FOR STUDENTS NOT FOLLOWING STANDARDIZED DRESS CODE POLICY

 

  1. First Time:               Warning
  2. Second Time:           1 Lunch Detention
  3. Third and Subsequent Times:   2 Lunch Detentions 
  4. Excessive Dress Code Violations may result in SSC Referral for Defiance
