"As one of Giano’s opening school activities, we felt as a school community that it was very important to continue honoring our flag and our country. For many years, it has been tradition that Giano Intermediate begins school daily with a flag raising ceremony. Each morning the flag bell rings and the students stand at attention facing the our USA flag in our outdoor mall area. We do this in honor of our country, our forefathers and all those whom have fought for our freedom. Today, we invited the Color Guards from the United States Marine Corp, from the Pico Rivera Branch/Unit as they marched in to kick off our flag raising school ceremony. When this ceremony was over, our student applauded the Marines for their participation and service to our country." -- Giano Principal Helen Benavides
