Standardized Dress Code
DRESS CODE POLICY
Giano’s dress code is designed to be conducive to student learning and to allow students to express themselves without being a distraction or harming others. Logos or words on clothing must be appropriate for school (no curse words or innuendos/references to violence, drugs, tobacco, or alcohol). Additionally, all students are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
Pants, Shorts, Skirts, and Dresses
- Cannot be worn below the waist (no sagging or exposed underwear)
- Dresses, skirts, jumpers, or shorts cannot be shorter than mid-thigh
- No pajamas
Shirts
- Sheer (see-through) material must have a full-length solid shirt beneath
- No halters, tank tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines, tube tops, bare midriffs, or bare backs
Shoes and Socks
- Closed-toed shoes only (No sandals or slippers of any kind)
- No backless or high-heeled shoes
Miscellaneous or Accessories
- Hats, caps, beanies, or hoodies can be worn outdoors only
- Jewelry must be safe for school activities
- Headphones/earbuds cannot be worn in any classroom
- PE clothes may not be worn outside of PE class
CONSEQUENCES FOR NOT FOLLOWING DRESS CODE POLICY
- First Time: Warning and change of clothes
- Second Time: Parent notification and change of clothes
- Third Time: Parent meeting and change of clothes
- Fourth and Subsequent Times: Major referral and parent notification
Exceptions can be made ONLY for school sponsored spirit weeks, school events, or for medical reasons supported by doctor’s note.
